Colorado Moss Rock & Granite Boulders
We source local moss rock and granite so the feature matches the regional landscape and weathers naturally. Dense stone resists spalling far better than soft imported rock.
Pondless waterfalls, bubbling boulders, formal fountains, and koi ponds built for the Front Range. Designed to run quietly, survive freeze-thaw winters, and turn the sound of moving water into the centerpiece of your yard.
Most water features fail in Colorado for the same two reasons: the pump was sized for sea level, and nobody planned for ice. As a waterfall contractor working only on the Front Range, we design every system around our altitude, our 100-degree summer swings, and winters that freeze a basin solid by January.
We build recirculating systems, which means the same water cycles through the feature instead of running off. A pondless waterfall hides its reservoir underground, so there’s no open pool to maintain and nothing for small kids or pets to fall into. That’s the build we recommend most often for Denver-area yards.
Water features pair naturally with the rest of your yard. We coordinate the rockwork and grading with your landscape design so the feature looks like it grew out of the slope rather than getting dropped on top of it.
From a single gurgling boulder to a full koi pond, here are the systems we build for Colorado homeowners.
A waterfall that disappears into a hidden underground reservoir. No standing water, low maintenance, and safe around children and pets. Our most-requested water feature.
A winding recirculating creek that follows your grade. We use streams to connect a patio to a lower lawn or to soften a steep section of yard with the sound of running water.
Drilled natural boulders with water rising up through the center and spilling over the face. The simplest entry point: compact, quiet, and ideal for front yards and courtyards.
Tiered, urn, and basin fountains for structured spaces. We set them on engineered footings so they stay level through freeze-thaw cycles instead of heaving out of plumb.
Ecosystem ponds built with proper depth, biological filtration, and aeration so koi can overwinter under the ice. We size the system for the fish load you actually want.
Outdoor fire features paired with spillways and fire-on-water bowls. The contrast of flame and moving water makes a strong focal point on a patio or pool deck.
Every component sits outside through 40-below wind chill and full summer sun. We spec accordingly.

Fish-safe EPDM rubber liner over protective underlayment, the standard for ponds and basins. It flexes with ground movement instead of cracking like rigid preformed shells.
Sealed magnetic-drive pumps sized for our altitude, so you get the flow you expect without an oversized electric bill. Most run on a standard exterior GFCI circuit.
Submersible and spotlight fixtures wired in during the build. Illuminate your water features so the falls and spray stay the centerpiece after dark, not just at midday.
We walk the yard, check grade and drainage, find a power source, and talk through where you want to hear the water from, the patio, the kitchen window, the deck.
You get a layout, a stone and pump spec, a 3D rendering for larger builds, and a fixed quote. No surprise change orders once we agree on the scope.
We dig the basin, set the liner and plumbing, place every boulder by hand, and tune the spillways so the water sheets evenly instead of trickling down one side.
We fill, balance the flow, set the lighting, and show you exactly how to run and winterize it. Then we check back after the first season.
A well-built recirculating feature is far less work than people expect. Here’s the honest picture.
A bubbling boulder usually starts in the low thousands. A mid-size pondless waterfall typically runs higher depending on stone tonnage and run length, and a full koi pond or large stream feature is a larger build. We give a fixed quote after the site visit so you know the number before any digging starts.
Not when it’s built for the climate. Our basins, liners, and footings are designed for freeze-thaw, and we size the depth so the reservoir doesn’t lock solid against the pump. Many of our pondless waterfalls run right through winter and form ice formations on the rocks.
A pondless waterfall hides its water in an underground reservoir, so there’s no open pool, the lowest maintenance and safest option. A koi pond has visible standing water, holds fish, and needs filtration and aeration. We build both and will steer you toward whichever fits how you actually use the yard.
Yes. We regularly retrofit bubbling boulders and spillway features into existing hardscapes and coordinate the cut and reset of pavers when needed. If you’re planning the patio at the same time, see our paver patio installation so we can route the plumbing before the surface goes down.
Pondless waterfalls and bubbling boulders have no standing water to fall into, which makes them the safest choice for families with young kids or dogs. The reservoir sits under gravel and rock, so the surface is solid to walk on.
